2 Day Kakadu Tours- Short Break Special

DAY 1- WETLANDS, BOWALI, NOURLANGIE ROCK

As we head directly towards Kakadu this morning, our first experience is our wetlands/crocodile cruise. We board our skippered craft and head out onto the wetlands to photograph and admire the various bird and wildlife species that inhabit our Top End environments. We guarantee you will also spot our iconic saltwater crocodiles while on the cruise.

After our cruise, we continue travelling to Kakadu, stopping for some freshly prepared lunch along the way. Our first stop in Kakadu is the Bowali Center for your initial introduction to the many and varied aspects of Kakadu National Park.

This afternoon we travel to one of Kakadu’s most renowned cultural sites, Nourlangie Rock. While there we lead you on an amazing cultural expedition through ancient occupational shelters, and view rock art that documents an Indigenous culture and lifestyles spanning tens of thousands of years. After our cultural journey we climb to a stunning Lookout point to witness a typically inspiring Kakadu panorama showcasing the parks stunning landscapes.

(*The Kakadu Waterfall Flight can be incorporated into today’s program as an extra option at an additional cost).

After an active day, we check in at the Crocodile Hotel for a relaxing night and perhaps a swim in the pool.

We provide fresh healthy lunches, however while staying at the Crocodile hotel, you are required to purchase your own dinner & drinks.

DAY 2- GUBARRA SPRINGS 

Central Kakadu and its diverse habitats and environment

After enjoying your breakfast at the Crocodile Hotel (included), we check out and travel further into Kakadu.

Today we delve deeper into Kakadu’s Cultural heartland as we penetrate the more remote and diverse habitats of the park. Monsoon forests, Stone Country, Woodlands and Waterfalls.

We begin our active day with a hike into the Gubarra Springs area and explore its remote and secluded sandstone environment. This area provides real opportunity for exploration as it is more remote with very low visitor rates. This Kakadu feature in particular really is where our extended guiding and knowledge of Kakadu allows you a very unique and memorable Kakadu experience. As we lead you into and around Gubarra Springs, you are exposed to an incredibly diverse range of habitats and inviting water features that literally flow through the surrounding stone country. The Gubarra Springs area remains a well-respected and favoured Kakadu destination for long term visitors to the park, as we are sure you will appreciate after our expedition.  

These areas also provide the avid bird watcher and photographers with endless opportunities!

After absorbing this tropical paradise with some swimming, recreation time and a well earned picnic lunch, we return hike and  prepare for our journey back to Darwin. As we travel along the Arnhem Highway towards Darwin we take a break at the Bark Hutt Inn for an afternoon refreshment and some more Top End history, arriving back in Darwin around 5-6pm. We return you to your accommodation with time to reflect on your Charter North Kakadu experience.
