The best personalized tour I’ve ever done- a truly awesome trip
Grieg and Alina run such a personalized and professional tour. They take care of all little things to allow you to enjoy the amazing places you visit. Grieg’s knowledge and enthusiasm for all things Kimberley’s related is just astounding. The meals are delicious, the car is comfortable and Grieg is a very skilled driver and bushman. The time and effort he takes to get to know each of his passengers, young and old makes it feel like you are traveling with a friend. The high level of communication with either Grieg or Alina through the booking process ( and Covid delays!!) was always prompt and informative. Kakadu & Beyond
Our family of 2 adults and 2 kids (11 & 13) did the 6 day Kakadu and Beyond tour and I cannot recommend Charter North more highly. Thanks to Greig and Alina for organising such a great trip for us. Communication and booking process was excellent. Our guide Bronni was a wealth of knowledge and catered the itinerary to our interests. We got to do some fantastic hikes and swims in beautiful fresh water holes. The scenery is spectacular. The kids said that Bronni made everything so fun and they loved it! We really appreciated getting away from the crowds and even spent one night camping in a spot with not another soul to be seen. The food was great - healthy and fresh. Bronni did an awesome job cooking over the campfire. The camp gear was good quality and quick and easy to set up. It really is great to turn up for a camping trip just having to pack your clothes and not worry about anything else. Thanks again Greig, Alina and Bronni for a fantastic trip! 6 Day Kakadu & Beyond Experience
What a wonderful life experience in an amazing part of the world! We are a family of 4 with young adults 18 & 20 who all thoroughly enjoyed our time with Greig from Charter North. We spoke to Greig as part of the booking process (tip - book as early as you can) who provided us with a great overview of how Charter North differentiates itself in the market. These are private tours where all you need to do is bring yourself and your clothes and they take care of all the rest - perfect so everyone in the family is on holiday. We worked our way through Kakadu for 3 days and then down to Katherine and back up to Litchfield. Greig provides an in-depth commentary along the way that included: rock art; visiting gorges; bush camping; and lots of stories and laughs along the way (and more!) Charter North's equipment provided: comfortable sleeping in swags in dome tents (the stars are amazing!); a very comfortable 4WD (over 800km covered); and impressive catering (Greig just makes it all happen). Family holiday - what an experience!
We did a 4-day, 3-night tour of the Kakadu National Park. We have a young family children aged 9 and 6 and we just had such an amazing time. Our tour guide Broni was amazing as a guide, she was knowledgeable and so engaging with us and our children. The food was also delicious and healthy, Broni prepared the food for us on the campfire every night which was such a special experience. Also the correspondence from Alina was amazing and she sent through all the information we required before the trip. This was definitely one of the best family experiences we have had as a family. 4 day Kakadu trip with teens
We cannot recommend Charter North any more highly! From the initial planning emails, we were impressed with Alina and Grieg’s efficient professionalism, prompt communication and personalised approach in creating a customised itinerary for our family of 6 (4 teenagers 13-16yo). The dedication and passion they share towards providing customers the best tour experience was apparent throughout the whole process with such attention to detail and care in all aspects. Our family had a fantastic 4 days with GT and were thoroughly entertained and educated by GT’s stories, humour and passion. We never ran out of conversation despite the many hours of driving. He took the time to chat to each of our children and engage them individually in the experience. His extensive experience from travelling and guiding in the top end for 25 years meant there was nothing he didn’t know! His genuine passion and enthusiasm for the top end was apparent and inspiring. Due to his expertise and planning, we were able to explore more remote areas of Kakadu where we had access to crystal clear water in beautiful gorgeous gorges with few others around. We also got to play in the beautiful waterfalls and rock pools of Litchfield. We were well fed with fantastic meals prepared each night over the wood fire and the snacks and lunches were healthy and enjoyable. We all enjoyed sleeping under the stars and kept warm in the provided swags and tents. Our kids enjoying the unique experience and appreciated the remote beauty of the area, and didn’t even complain about the lack of phone reception! We are so grateful to have found Charter North and to have such a rare and unique opportunity to have such a memorable experience. Thank you GT and Alina!! Amazing and memorable 4-day Kakadu and Litchfield NP camping tour with Bronwyn! As a family of 4 with two small children we were looking for a flexible, personalised, thrilling ...(but age-appropriate) programme to help us get the most out of our Top End adventure. I think it's fair to say we hit the jackpot with Charter North! ? Right from the initial planning stages, we got knowledgeable, enthusiastic, tailored (and very patient!) advice and guidance from Alina. The support and patience in answering all our novice questions made us feel very confident about our chosen itinerary and accommodation - despite, if I am honest, some significant reluctance initially to camp in the scary bush! Every detail was attended to, and special care was taken to ensure the trip would be both comfortable and memorable for the kids as well as us - including planning in extra snacks, comfort breaks, and adapting activities to be safe and manageable for a 4- and 6-year old. Our guide, Broni, was absolutely fabulous. throughout - especially with our kids and they both adored her and sat enraptured at her relating of stories and fables around the campfire. We couldn't have asked for anything more. We saw and learnt so much, and experienced an adventure well beyond our comfort zone, without ever feeling actually uncomfortable. Indeed quite the opposite - everything necessary was provided, and the menus and catering were marvellous, delicious and healthy - always varied and fresh. As if that were not enough, a special thanks goes out for rescuing and reuniting our daughter with her favourite soft toy (who had got himself rolled up in her swag) just in the nick of time before we left Darwin. Excellent journey through iconic Kakadu national park
Enjoyed all components a a fabulous Kakadu trip. The scenery especially the stone country and the rock art was far better than we anticipated with the information provided by our very knowledgeable guide GT adding much to our enjoyment. We loved the rock pools to swim in after a hike. The food was excellent, varied and healthy. We slept in mozzie free tents using swags which were very comfortable. Greig and Alina’s planning and communication before the trip was spot on. We were able to devise our own itinerary with some fantastic suggestions from Greig. We are 2 couples in our 60s and have just returned from a 4 day Kakadu experience with tour leader Bronwyn. We highly recommend Charter North as everything was well organised, car was very well maintained and the excursions planned showed us the depth and breadth of Kakadu. 3 day Kakadu and Litchfield tour - Wet Season
We arrived in Darwin at the end of March coinciding with the final part of the Wet. Most tour operations do not cater for tourists at this time of year but thankfully Charter North do. Our booking was handled seamlessly by Alina and even before the tour, suggestions were made to enhance our experience which we gladly took up. Unfortunately, snorkelling was no longer available on the itinerary due to tourism insurance canning the activity. However, Greig with his extensive knowledge of the Kakadu and Litchfield landscapes as well as his experience with the climate, served us up with an itinerary that satisfied our thirst for hiking, jaw-dropping scenery, cultural experience and looking at the unique flora and fauna of this rather special place. Overall, I was glad to have the chance to see these two great national parks when waterfalls are flowing and the land is green. Kudos to Greig and Alina. Amazing Kakadu experience
We are a couple and took a 4 day private tour to Kakadu and we loved every minute! From the first enquiries we received all the information we were looking for and more. Alina answered every question we had and gave us great advice to prepare for the trip. GT took us on tour and his knowledge of the landscape and indigenous culture made the visit very interesting. We did learn a lot and had fun too. He took time to answer every question we had, while he takes care of you during the trekking. We did the visit during October, which is challenging due to the heat, but we were safe and relaxed since GT knew very well how to take us to each spot at the right pace, ensuring appropriate water and breaks to allow us to enjoy every attraction and view point we visited in the park. I’m not native in English and sometimes it is a challenge with the Aussie accent, especially in remote locations like this, but not with GT. Our family of 5 had a wonderful experience exploring Kakadu National Park. Greig was a very professional, considerate and knowledgeable guide, very easy to talk to and drove our precious family around very safely. He knew so much about the wildlife, indigenous culture and country with all of us learning volumes. The car was comfortable and his cooking very tasty - the boys (all under 12) loved their pasta dish particularly! Amazing, unforgettable experience!
This was an unforgettable experience! First of all, planning of the trip with Charter North was the first sign of the professionalism of this company - all our wishes were considered, questions answered, challenges explained - the list goes on and on. Our tour guide (referred to as GT, still not sure why not call him Greig 🙂 ) was very professional with unbelievable knowledge of absolutely everything related to the tour - and this was not limited to places we visited: he was able to answer absolutely every question (whether it was about the cultural heritage, wildlife, past/present/future of places like Kakadu park etc.). GT was taking care of us during the whole trip - whether it related to always timely lunch, trail choice or even things like avoiding dehydration - everything was catered for. And several times we thanked our choice of this company due to hidden treasures of Kakadu Park, let alone the challenging roads not every driver can cope with.Most importantly - when you deal with people like the ones we met from Charter North - you want to see human beings, not just local area encyclopaedia (which they were, incidentally) and this was probably the most pleasant experience: great and informative stories, lots of laughter, truly friendly atmosphere: all of this made us all (a group of four people) think that the money was very well spent. Gorgeous Kimberley
A huge thanks to GT and Alina. We had a wonderful time travelling Broome - Kununurra up the Gibb River Rd - including side trips to Derby, Wyndham and the incredible Bungle Bungles. Loved the bush camping, the gorges, seeing the stars, sunrises /sunsets and the special hidden places that GT shared with us - many times we had pristine bush/waterways just to ourselves - what a treat. The driving was first rate and GT's knowledge detailed - not surprising given his many years guiding in these parts. Top End 6 day family private tour
Amazing experience! We are planning on booking again to do the Kimberley tour. We are a family of 4 with 2 primary school age children, we did the private tour 6day top end experience. The tour covered Kakadu, Edith Falls, Katherine Gorge and Litchfield; and our whole family thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience. Our fabulous guide, GT, looked after us very well - he has an amazing knowledge of wildlife, culture as well as camping. And his cooking is delicious! We originally booked this tour to take advantage of a local guide’s knowledge, as well as have all the required equipment provided - however quickly realised and greatly appreciated how relaxing it can be when you have someone take care of all the camp set up, cooking and pack up (and we loved the percolater coffee in the morning)!! Even though this was an active camping holiday, we finished feeling relaxed as GT really looked after us. GT was also really lovely with our children, he was patient and kind and was always happy taking the time to answer their questions and teach them how to manage in the bush. Kakadu at its best!
We are a family of 5 and just completed a 3 night /4 day Kakadu 4WD tour with GT. It was an amazing adventure with an excellent guide. The food was of a high caliber and the camp settings beautiful. Our 4 day (3 night) Charter North camping trip in Kakadu was hands down THE BEST thing we have ever done as a family. We have 3 kids aged 4-10yrs old, and Dan took us to the most perfect locations for our family. We hiked, climbed and swam in picture perfect places, and Dan shared so much knowledge with us about everything from flowers and birds, to indigenous stories and art. The food was excellent and catered to our gluten-free family member also. We simply had the most fun time ever! Memories that will last a life time. 10 Day Broome to Darwin camping through the Kimberleys
It was wonderful to sleep out in swags under huge star-filled skies, protected only by the insect mesh of the tent without needing the tent fly. Bush camping sites were a treat, especially relaxing around a campfire while Greig cooked the dinner in a camp oven. The knowledge shared by our guide, Greig Taylor, of the local aboriginal art sites, history & customs, and the country we travelled through, was excellent.
