B-Town Warriors promote positive community energy
Community projects can help maintain cultural values and support kids in developing positive self esteem, as the following example proves. In April 2016, young Indigenous people from Bourke High School in the remote community of Bourke in far Western NSW produced the song “People of the Red Sunset” through a community project in collaboration with Desert Pea Media and Outback Division of General Practice.
In only five days, a catchy tune plus upbeat video were produced, and the outcome is simply impressive! The song has been featured on Triple J unearthed and can be downloaded here.
What a great community project, song and example of young Indigenous talent! Hopefully this positive energy will be as catchy as the song!
“The song is a celebration of survival, resilience, culture and pride and is one of our proudest achievements of 2016” (Desert Pea Media).
“One of the greatest gifts we can bestow upon our community is to invest in, and believe in our children – the results speak for themselves” (Donna Jeffries, Executive Manager, NSW Outback Division of General Practice).
